Unit 23995

Category: Layer    dug in 2017

Area: TPC

Interpretive Categories: infill

Data Category Information: Location: building; Deposition: heterogeneous

Discussion: It was an infill layer in SE corner of B. 166 defined arbitrarly under u. 23985. Its upper part consisted of bricky rubble. Lower deposit was a homogenous grey layer with ashy and charcoal intrusions. The layer was placed directly on the floor of B. 166 and partly on its E wall. Due to the uncertain context and dating of the infill, no flotation sample was taken. It was not dry sieved.

Consistency: upper part firm, lower soft

Colour: mid grey with orange bricky inclusions

Texture: silty clay

Bedding: upper part filled with bricky rubble, lower more homogenous, mid grey with some ash

Inclusions: animal bones, pottery, obsidian

Post-depositional Features: rodent

Basal Boundary: flat, prominent, constructional
