Unit 2786
Category: layer dug in 1997
Area: South
Interpretive Categories: dump,floor
Data Category Information: Location: building; Description: general; Material: occupation; Deposition: multiple
Dimensions: 1.2 m E/W x 0.9 m N/S x 30 mm
Discussion: Unclean "dirty" deposit possibly because around oven area. Build up of deposit may be due to sweeping and trampling around oven/hearth area. Some burnt inner hearth lining was also noticed, but, probably because it fell of oven, rather than demolition etc.
Added 1998: Baulk area excavated in 1998, does not seem very much like the description over leaf, containing large frags. of plaster but apart from that was pretty sure it is the same deposit. Probably this flot (55) is contaminated with layer above. On plan 98-755 levels seem higher than last year's (1997) but it was traced off last year's grid which is askew from 1998's grid. Su 8/9/98.
ALSO/ Samples 1 - 5 are all on last years grid and height but level of sample 5 is this years .
