Unit 2813
Category: layer dug in 1997
Area: South
Interpretive Categories: building infill
Data Category Information: Location: building; Deposition: homogeneous
Dimensions: 1.40 m N-S x 1.30 m E-W x 0.16 m deep
Discussion: Building infill of well mixed homogenous clayey matrix probably predominantly brick material with lots of plaster frags and flecks. Same event as underlying unit which divided off for samples etc. The odd faint and insubstantial lens indicates the fill was deposited in multiple events (i.e. bucket by bucket) but the source is the same.
Execution: small pick and trowel
Condition: overcast and windy
Consistency: moderately firm
Colour: 10 YR 5/4 yellowish brown
Texture: silty clay
Bedding: massive
Inclusions: 30 % < 1 cm plaster aggregates, 30 % < 2 cm clay/brick aggregates, 2 % < 3 mm carbonised organics, 1 % < 3 cm burnt brick
Post-depositional Features: mod. root activity
Basal Boundary: diffuse, shares many characteristics with underlying deposit, basically divided off due to v. faint ashy lense at this horizon to the south, a good place to change number but the same deposit as lower infill, anthropogenic dump/infill.
