Discussion: This unit was crucial in defining and excavating wall f.3948. It consists of some extremely burnt plaster, which has flaked off in many places. It is only present still on the western half of the southern face of f.3948. It is this plaster, along with the plaster on the floor (f. 7153), and the bins (f. 3993, f.7151) that leads us to believe this building had some sort of public function requiring plaster for display and maintenance of the walls. We found many fragments of this same plaster in the fill u. 30219 and occupation layer u. 30246, showing how destroyed this layer became in the fire. It was scraped off by trowel and collected completely in samples.
