Discussion: This is easily distinguished layer located within a fire installation F.1852. most probably this is the oldest (earliest) layer connected with construction of the oven. This is a fine, relatively thick (around 8 cm) layer of fine make up with many charcoal inclusions connected with the usage of the oven in later phases. Its basal boundary is sloping to the south, and its clear only in the western part. 

 

Consistency: friable to firm 

Colour: light brown to mid brown 

Texture: silty clay 

Bedding: massive 

Inclusions: none 

Post-depositional Features: animal burrow 

Basal Boundary: distinct in western part; in rest part uneven and faint, sloping to the south
