Unit description: Defined as bone cluster inside 3035 and 3036. In fact most bone from 3036 seems to be a part of the same cluster, with sheep on the bottom and large mammals on the top of a compact layer of bones arranged horizontally. A unit of few pieces, but large ones. Large mammal bones broken for marrow, sheep-size not. Low-temperature burning on portions of most of them, but not on the entire bones. in the field it was observed that the burnt sides were toward the south wall of House 1. Two antlers and a cattle horn core. None of the bones articulate. Both young and adult animals are represented. Light to moderate weathering. Clearly deposited as a single event (along with 3036), and buried rapidly. Taken together, these units provide some of our clearest evidence for feasting remains, and may possibly be a foundation deposit for the house to the south. The cluster was underneath the wall of this house, which survives only to a couple of courses. It is not clear whether this is part of a larger midden layer extending south; some remains in the ground and will not be excavated in the foreseeable future. The horn and antler don't seem to fit with feasting remains as such, but may have been deliberately included as part of a special deposit. An animal figurine was found mixed with the bone, a quadruped with what may be stabbing marks in the legs. Could this be associated with the hunt or sacrifice that produced the animals deposited here, and put in, broken, as part of the ending of the event? Last number = F9, X1
