Description: Thickness varied between 0.1 and 0.2 m. 

Discussion: This unit was the unstratified topsoil for the entire trench. It contained finds from a wide range of times (Neolithic to Byzantine) as well as pieces of plastic from recent excavations. We decided not to take a flotation sample for this unit because the layer was out of context and the results from the flotation would not be useful. In the SE corner of the unit we stopped at a distinct white layer of clay. For the rest of the unit we went down in 5 cm steps until we reached a distinct layer which had visible outlines of cuts and other features.
