Dimensions: .35 m NS x 0.27 m EW x 0.15 m 

Discussion: Possibly mortar, layer of F.99, more on the basis that 3102 is almost certainly brick than anything else. Like 3100, a fairly anonymous building material composite, no layers but occasional lumps of plaster etc. 

Recognition: visible layer post-trowelling 

Definition: reasonably clear onto wall F.263 

Execution: trowel+mattock 

Condition: dry/soft, hot/sunny 

Consistency: fine, soft, crumbly, loose 

Colour: 10 YR 5/4 yellowish brown 

Texture: clayish 

Bedding: massive 

Inclusions: no finds 

Post-depositional Features: some roots near boundary with wall F.263 

Basal Boundary: abrupt and distinct, slightly uneven and irregular, sloping S towards wall F.263
