Unit 3144
Category: layer dug in 1998
Area: South
Interpretive Categories: floors and make up
Data Category Information: Location: building; Description: general; Material: mixed; Deposition: composite (floor/bedding/plaster/packing/occupation)
Dimensions: 0.2 m EW x 0.27 m NS x 70 mm
Discussion: Very small grid sample, revealed to be above the previously dug unit 3135. This unit removed to ensure stratigraphical order. Unremarkable floor deposit, mostly plaster. Unit removed accounts for several plaster floor layers, plus an infill deposit. Here, unlike 3145 and 3146 the infill layer was very thin.
Recognition: layer recognised above 3135 during excavation of 3135
Definition: small, clear white deposit against plaster feature
Execution: leaf trowel, edge to plaster feature
Condition: very dry and crumbly
Consistency: soft, dry and crumbly
Colour: 10 YR 7/2 light grey
Texture: very smooth fine silt
Bedding: layered, several plaster and one (unreadable) 6 mm brown layer
Inclusions: none
Post-depositional Features: none
Basal Boundary: abrupt and distinct but irregular and inclosed steeply SW
