Unit 3152
Category: layer dug in 1998
Area: South
Interpretive Categories: floor and packing
Data Category Information: Location: building; Description: general; Material: mixed; Deposition: composite (floor/bedding/plaster/packing/occupation)
Dimensions: 0.9 m EW x max 0.6- min 0.22 m NS x 60 mm thick
Discussion: Unit is another fairly thin sequence of plaster floor layers, with an infill layer as it approached the S wall, presumably to even out the floor surface. The scoured nature of the floor surface creates some pitted areas and unevenness, but the layer is reasonably distinct.
Recognition: clear white layer over a more consistently grey layer, clean break
Definition: well defined to S wall, crumbly and protected to N edge of plan
Execution: leaf trowel
Condition: dry and crumbly
Consistency: soft and loose on surface, hard below
Colour: 10 YR 6/3 pale brown
Texture: silty clay
Bedding: layered, plaster surfaces and a deeper brown infill, sloping to S, pitted and eroded
Inclusions: charcoal 2%, plant remains 2% + uneven
Post-depositional Features: (erosion and weathering)
Basal Boundary: sharp and distinct, particularly in colour, anthropogenic (?) and inclining steeply to the S wall
