Interpretive Categories: infill

Data Category Information: Location: building; Deposition: homogeneous

Dimensions: 0.63 x 0.11 x 0.27

Discussion: (3153) represented a silver of very mixed material which had been left unexcavated on the outside edge of wall [71]. It seems to have been part of what space 106 was infilled with after its occupation and included no distinct layers although it may have been made up of several episodes of deposition. It may also be the same material which infilled the space between the ends of [71] and [69] (3141). The material of these was very similar, although they were separated by cracking

Recognition: Distinguished by its mixed composition with high plaster content

Definition: Defined by cracking separately (3153) from the material to the west

Execution: Trowel and pick

Condition: Very dry and crumbly

Consistency: Firm

Colour: Varied 10 YR 6/3 (pale brown); 2.5 Y 8/1 (white); 7.5 YR 7/3 (pink); 10 YR 5/3 (brown); 10 YR 6/4 (Light yellowish brown)

Texture: Clayey/plastery ash

Bedding: Massive but mixed

Inclusions: 8% bone (some very large pieces); 8% charcoal (various sizes); <2% hackberries; <2% shell

Post-depositional Features: Salt encrustation and animal burrowing

Basal Boundary: There was no clear basal boundary with the material directly beneath, (3154) but it clearly overlaid the wall [71] and was distinguished sharply from this, marked by salt encrustation
