Discussion: U.31549 is the infill sealing the base of fire installation (F.7868) situated on SW part of the building. The infill was sandy and fragmented. Chunks of plaster and burnt clay on the base (U. 31547) are recorded. After taking out this fill sealing the fire installation, the edge of the superstructure U.31548 could be identified. Inside the fill there was a huge amount of (15%) burnt superstructure so that this fire installation could have had a doom. 

Consistency: friable 

Colour: mid brown, light gray 

Texture: sandy silt, ashy 

Bedding: compound 

Inclusions: 15% burnt clay
