Unit 31614
Category: Layer dug in 2015
Area: South
Interpretive Categories: infill room,make-up
Data Category Information: Location: building; Deposition: homogeneous
Discussion: Unit recognized under the floors (U31603) of Sp 565 at first thought to be either make-up /packing fill under those floors or fill of underlying space (since the unit seemed to be massive and pretty deep (as seen in walls of Cut U31601). The second interpretation, turned to be correct when older underlying (under F8010) plastered wall was exposed. It also become apparent that the unit continuous under N wall of space (F8011) which was cut into the fill, unfortunately the N extent of the unit (and Space 580) couldn’t be recognized in 2015 due to lack of time, the unit is therefore not fully excavated.
During the 2016 season we only remove the last remains of this layer which was attached to the F8011, being clear that this feature was not cutting this infill layer and of course not continuous under the F8011, because after remove it the wall plaster 31608 for the F8011 was completely visible. Anyway seems to be the same as the U22353 but we decided to give a new unit number (12.05.2016 -- CB)
