Discussion: Relatively clean layer of brown silt, below (3160) and (3159), appears to be associated with the platform visible in the section to the N. Partly peeling off an occupation deposit so possibly layer at the very base of platform, although more plaster revealed underneath during excavation. If the assumption that this layer assoc. with the platform is erronous then the most likely alternative is a partially surviving floor, and (3160) and (3159) remnant of small structure against E wall perhaps.

Recognition: Recognised during excavation of (3148). (3148) ran up to the edge of this layer.

Definition: Once the layer had been recognised and (3148), the definition of the S edge appeared clear, the N side is defined by edge of excavation and the W side by the wall, to E by gridline.
