Unit 32071
Category: Layer dug in 2016
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: dirty floor
Data Category Information: Location: building; Description: general; Material: occupation; Deposition: multiple
Discussion: A series of arbitrarily grouped layers of subsequent: plastered floors, make-ups, and thick laminations of dirt (high density of ash / charred plants) had been assigned under one Unit no. 32071. The described above layer was recorded in South-Western part of the Sp. 531 and it covered quite extensive area between the oven (F.7732) (to the East) and sloping edge of the SW-platform F.7880 (to the West). The southern limit of the unit constituted the S-wall (F.3679). The Northern restriction was positioned on protruding surface related with NE-platform (F.7733).
The layer composed of varied number of layers of diverse thickness. However, one may calculate here the most distinctive parts of the Unit 32071. Respectively from the top there were subsequent layers which go as follow: Ashy-dirt (4mm); make-up (3mm); ashy-dirt (5mm); white plaster (5mm); ashy-dirt (8mm); make-up (5mm); ashy-dirt (5mm), dirty make-up (5mm).
An arbitrarily chosen basal boundary (bottom limit) of the unit composed of thin layer of white patchy floor which overlaid thick mid-orange make-up. The later layers had been distinguished due to the fact that they were evidenced as the layers that overlapped western part of the oven U.7732 superstructure. In addition, there were no dirty floors recognized under the orange make-up layer.
The whole UNIT 32071 was divided to the grid 1m x 1m and its exploration relied on collecting samples from each of the divider (square). The sampling process borne that one of the sample is taken specifically for Phytolith analyzes. For that purpose we decided to enumerate the botanical samples using ODD digit numbers (e.g. 1, 3,7). All of the rest part of the explored sediment within squared meter would be taken as flotation sample, enumerated conventionally by EVEN digit number (e.g. 2, 4, 6). The excavation of the layer as well as assigning the subsequent numbers of samples stared from its SE part. Consequently: S1 and S2 – represent South-Eastern part of the unit; S3, S4 – represent South-Western part of the unit; S7, S6 – represent northern part of the unit. S5 – refers to archive sample.

Finds Room Information:
All material from site passes through the finds room for washing and separating before it is passed onto the various lab teams. The finds room keeps a basic inventory of what is found. A finds material type list is given here. Further analytical detail maybe provided by the Lab Team data below.
X Finds Material: nothing recorded
