Discussion: 3307 represents the upper 2 courses of brick of wall 58. On removal, they were clearly bounded / intersecting with the bricks of East-West running wall 67 to the West. The remainder of the wall to the south had already been removed. The bricks beneath were removed for dry sieving with the mortar.
Recognition: A sandy hamageneous layer clearly distuingishable in wall 58.
Definition: Defined by cracking and salt encrustation from the walls around and the mortar of wall 58.
Execution: Pick and trowel.
Condition: Slightly damp.
Consistency: Firm.
Colour: 10YR 6/4 light yellowish brown.
Texture: Sandy silt loam.
Bedding: Massive, very homogeneous.
Inclusions: <2% charcoal flecks; <2% plant silicats; <2% burnt clay (small pieces); <2% clay.
Post-depositional Features: Salt encrustation and animal burrowing.
Basal Boundary: A sharp, clear, constructional basal boundary. The surface in between 3307 and 3317 (the brick and Mortar of wall 58) was level and smooth.
