Discussion: Began removing in 5-10cm spits with a pick ahe. Followed wall surface of screen wall in NW corner of this unit up against platform and south of it where slabs of what seemed to be wall plaster layed along the platform/ floor surface. These slabs were broken across the platform edge. We removed these in order to reach the floors in this area. Within this unit was bldg.debris and also mixed up bits of fallen roof material. However, the roof itself was kept a separate unit. As we reached lower began to come down onto floor of sp.86 we put a grid over area & start new units.

Unit description: X6 is a human ilium. LY 2001: The bone from this unit largely consists of long bone shaft and rib fragments of both 03 and 07 size animals. Very few are identifiable to species level. Evidence of burning is infrequent but where present the bone has been carbonised. Digested bone is present in low proportions. Amongst the identifiable portion was a distal cattle tibia that contained plaster on the articular surface, the shaft survives to 10 cm and forms a point in the centre but it is not possible to ascertain if this was deliberate, accidental or a feature of postdepositional damage. A massive distal cattle radius also displayed some of this same plaster on its distal end. X7 is a piece of antler probably of fallow deer given the presence of flat portions on the piece. A couple of pieces of fish bone were recovered from the dry sieve. 4mm sample #1 was recorded for diagnostics only. Last number = 92.Figurine Records: No GroundStone Records: No Heavy Residue Records: No Microfaunal Records: No
