Discussion: Began digging in Ne corner to follow floor from the most NE quadrant of sp. 86. As we moved the upper layer came to a higher floor surface - well prepared brownish - pink floor layer unplastered. On top of the floor surface, at some points, was sections of phytolites (S6). It was at these floor surfaces where I took the floor sampling sequence (S2-4). On the NW corner of the unit these floors abut the platform's E side and dent seen to continue up along the platform ridge. 

 

Recognition: lower level of previously recognized deposits 

Definition: grid. reached a clear floor surface below w/ arbitrary x/y definition by grid 

Execution: trowel to floor surface by scraping 

Condition: dry and crymbly up yo more mois floor surface 

Consistency: firm w/ loose areas (prob. from animal disturbances) 

Colour: 10YR 5/2 - 10YR 7/4 - 7/6 

Texture: silty clay 50-50 

Bedding: massive 

Inclusions: 1) wall plasteragg. 5%, med. size 2) flecks of phytolites 5-10% and charcoal 5%; 3) brick and bldg. mat 30-40% med-large size; 4) sm. clayball and stone frg. 1%, near floor 

Post-depositional Features: a. holes
