Unit 3591
Category: layer dug in 1999
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: pit fill, platform make up
Data Category Information: none
Discussion: The fill was more or less a continous layer of hard, fine yellow brown soil typical of layers between flooor plasters. The S end was very tumbbly w/ chunks of fallen plaster, large gypsum pieces and a few dark ashy lenses.
The lower boundary of the cut was much less distinct in the S and as was the perimiter boundary.
At first I hoped that the cut might ??? a burial (baby in a basket?), however after about the thickness of the platform a pretty distinct floor surface was uncovered.
> fill of E cut in S-W platform, sp.86
Recognition: lighter, more dirty soil than rest of platform
Definition: except on SE end the oval boundary was distinct> on Seend- diffuse and difficult to tell from tumbble upto the wall
Execution: leaf-tr. scraping from center and peeling from edges
Condition: moist
Consistency: firm - fine
Colour: light brown yellow around 10YR 7/6
Texture: sandy loam
Bedding: massive - almost entirely the same hard material , similar to that found between floor levels
Inclusions: charcoal - small 10%, gipsum flecks 5%
Post-depositional Features:
Basal Boundary: smooth, abrupt, antropic boundary on N side w/ more irregular pitted surface to S
