Interpretive Categories: floor

Data Category Information: Location: building; Description: general; Material: non-white laid floor; Deposition: composite (floor/bedding/plaster/packing/occupation)

Dimensions: c.1.0 m N-S x c.0.70 m E-W x 1-2 cm thick

Discussion: This unit represents the third layer of lenses of floors in space 159. It was alike with (3795) in a way that it was as dirty as it and had a lot of organic material remains within it. All these organic remains were in very small sizes, just barely recognizable. This floor (or set of floors) has been cut through by (3784) and (3786) and of course at least by 10 different animal holes!! The floor just seems to dissapear by itself along the N and S which gives a clue that it must have just worn down by time.

Recognition: Recognised by its colour and texture which is different from the deposits around.

Definition: Next set of floor(s) underneath (3795). Dissapears gradually by itself to the N, bordered by a wall and truncated by a pit to the E, cut off by excavation to the S, truncated by a pit to the W.

Execution: Leaf trowel.

Condition: Good.

Consistency: moderately firm

Colour: varies matrix is 10 YR 6/4 light yellowish brown; the gray layer in between is 10 YR 6/2 light brownish grey

Texture: silty

Bedding: layered in the middle of the matrix in some parts, there is a fine gray coloured layer

Inclusions: 10% flecks and small pieces of charcoal; 10% phytoliths - flecks and some small pieces; <2% very small fine pieces of clay

Post-depositional Features: animal burrowing, wasp nest, roots

Basal Boundary: sharp/clear/sloping down from N-S; even though it's a clear boundary it's hard to take off the floor from the layer underneath because they've been stuck
