Discussion: Thin banded layer of mortar in the niche F247. It is unclear exactly what this represents. It is just possible that it is an in-situ surface after some of the 'niche' was blocked, it seems unlikely that the plaster was simply an 'accident' or dumping. 

Recognition: Distinct white mortar. 

Definition: Edges on niche.

Consistency: firm 

Colour: 10 YR 8/2 very pale brown 

Texture: sandy silty clay 

Bedding: compound layered
