Discussion: A whole series of thin and limited extent plaster layers towards N edge of excavation and some intervening grey or brown make up or floor layers . In the end took off as (3971) a thin (no more than 2-3 mm) peninsula of plaster that extended to the S over (3968) and lapped up to edge of clean plaster face to W. Plaster (3971) slightly dirtier yelllowish in appearance to the white plaster on face but appeared to be continous in places with the face so assume contemporary. Also included as (3971) the underlying layer, grey make up? that the plaster lipped over, this grey layer partially overlay plaster visible to N.
Recognition: Recognised during excavation of overlying layers that white plaster layers towards edge of excavation.
Definition: Clear, baulk to E.
Execution: Trowel.
Condition: Dry.
Consistency: friable
Colour: 10 YR 7/2 light grey (dry) + 10 YR 6/3 pale brown (dry)
