Unit 40016
Category: Cut dug in 2018
Area: East
Interpretive Categories: ditch cut
Data Category Information: Description: ditch
Discussion: This is a cut of a linear ditch running from north to south iin the eastern flanks of the East Mound. It is quite well visible with a naked eye, as a depression in surrounding ground, but is was also however recorded during the geophysical prospection in 2010 and 2012 and interpreted as a field boundary ditch, therefore connected to modern agricultural activity.
It turned out to be quite shallow. Its eastern side was not properly defined. The cut depth varied from 10 (N part) to 30 cm (S part).
Shape: linear
Sides: concave (from W side), not defined (from W side)
Base Break: gradual (from W side), not defined (from E side)
Base: flat, distinct
Orientation: N-S
