Unit description: Flot Sample 2579 - S4 2576 - S2 Priority Unit A very dense floor/rakeout containing large pieces of bone, stone, clay balls and obsidian - perhaps an in situ deposit associated with the oven. No dry sieved material - the entire bone assemblage was from heavy residue or x -finded. Colour is light to medium brown - lighter than 'normal' ashy rakeout. Tiny amount of burning all of very small pieces. The only identifiable taxa are sheep/goat. There are also two partial bone beads a bead preform and a small carnivore tooth. Probably a bead workshop, or at least the remains of beadmaking. There are three unfinished bone beads, using two different manufacturing techniques. Are there beads of other materials from this unit? 4mm flotation sample, 100% sorted, recorded for diagnostics only at a later date appears to be similar in makeup, consisting of small fragments of sheep-sized bone, a few with temperature burning and no identifiables. There were, however, a couple of pieces of microfauna and two bone point tips, one of which was very fine. Last Number = F.46Figurine Records: Yes
