Unit 4671
Category: layer dug in 1999
Area: South
Interpretive Categories: bin fill
Data Category Information: Location: feature; Description: bin; Deposition: homogeneous; Basal Spit: basal deposit
Dimensions: 0.30m w-e, 0.15m n-s, 5 to 10mm thick
Discussion: Fill in base of bin F.515 sealed by infill (4670). Appears to be a primary use-related fill. A mixed silty deposit distinguished by the presence of lots of red ochre and a flint blade associated with the ochre. Very similar to (4673) in bin F.516. Was bin used for storing ochre, mixing ochre or does it represent an abandonment ritual? On balance the last of these options seems most probable.
