Discussion: 4780 was a compound layer made up of several floor surface, occupation and make-up layers that related to the latest use of the area, contemporary to the oven F524. The "dirty" nature of these floors supports their association with oven related activities. The layer contained at least two floor surfaces although these only survived at the edges. The deposits overlyýng both of these were mixed, and included fairly high quantities of bone and obsidian, a bead, and various organic rich deposts. This suggests that the area was being used for the deposition of waste from the oven and other activities that were taking place in the building including obsidian knapping and making food. It was difficult to distinguish this layer from the very similar mixed floor deposits beneath, so this distinction may be blurred in places. These floor layers lapped over a partition (F528) which defined their northern edge. Thýs suggests that they respected it as a boundary, separating clean and dirty areas in the eastern half of the building. 

Consistency: mixed, but mostly friable 

Colour: varied - mid-grey, bright orange-brown, mid greyish-brown, dark grey, yellowish-white, yelowish-brown 

Texture: varied - clayey towards the edges, ash, silty clay, sandy silt, ashy clay, sandy clay 

Bedding: compound layered 

Inclusions: varied between layers - charcoal, ash, clay, bone, stone, coprolite, phytoliths, burnt clay, plaster, hackberries 

Post-depositional Features: heavy salt encrustation, especially towards the east 

Basal Boundary: distinct immediately around F524 and across much of the area, but unclear in places especially to the north and south west where the similar underlying deposits interleaved. It was smooth and sloped from west to east and from north to south.
