Discussion: Small platform or post base against the west wall of Space 173. Possibly truncated and lying between different phases of flooring. 

 

Recognition: Small raised area of pale material 

Definition: Clearly distinct from material overlying and underlying 

Execution: Trowel and hand pick from edges 

Condition: Firm, dry and possibly truncated 

Consistency: Firm 

Colour: Pale grey and pale beige 

Texture: Silty clay 

Bedding: Compound layered 

Inclusions: <5% charcoal flecks 

Post-depositional Features: Occasional root and insect disturbance 

Basal Boundary: Clear, smooth, anthropic
