Unit 5001
Category: Cluster dug in 1999
Area: South
Interpretive Categories: organic deposit
Data Category Information: Material: wood; Deposition: secondary deposition
Discussion: This tree trunck collapsed or dumped into the area, even it could be part of levelling in order to create the flat floor levels in the north west area of the building 23. Dimensions of the wood is almost (as far as exposed) 130 x 25 x 3 in maximum and situated towards north west corner of the building 23.
There is a 1-3cm thick plaster layer underneath and looks like it is closely related to the tree trunk which suggests that it might have been plastered and collapsed. It has part of its bark on it still and continues towards south along the wall. It requires urgent first aid. It is also the first biggest preserved wooden material on the site so far. It is mineralised, that helped to its preservation. However, there were special type of report relates to this piece of wood.
