Unit 5072
Category: layer dug in 1999
Area: South
Interpretive Categories: Platform make-up,Rubble infill
Data Category Information: In Situ: in situ; Location: floor (packing only); Material: re-used brick&mortar; Deposition: homogeneous
Dimensions: 1.2m e-w x 2.4m n-s x 0.3m deep
Discussion: Rubble on top of separate area to west of the room.
At first we began to excavate this group of rubble along with the rest (4624), but worried that it might be platform make-up, bounded by what is now F 550, mostly because it contained a larger proportion of plaster blocks, some smooth and 'platform-like'. However it seems after excavating the unit that despite this slight difference, it shound be included with 4624 as pirmary infill. It is possible that, reflecting differences in the use of the spaces on either side of F 550 it was infilled differently (ie one part first with more plastery rubble)??
Relationship moved to below [4624] on the bassi that 'floors' were likely to have been truncated at end of life of building thus exposing the core of the platform and this prob. Reps. Fill/construction packing of the platform.
(shld we compare with 4624 (specifically 4631, 4638, 4639) (SF Dec' '00)

Finds Room Information:
All material from site passes through the finds room for washing and separating before it is passed onto the various lab teams. The finds room keeps a basic inventory of what is found. A finds material type list is given here. Further analytical detail maybe provided by the Lab Team data below.
