Discussion: Strange deposit of clay balls (others might call them spherical objects of fired clay).
There was a clear cut in which they sat within the matrix (5154). (5154) was an unusual texture and type, but I can't explain how! It is possible that they simply did sit in a 'container' (the cut) begind oven F 555 during its use which was then infilled at a later date (perhaps when F 548 was constructed).
It does seem odd that they would just be left there and covered over-perhaps it could be seen as a specific purposeful deposit.
it is very interesting (and timely) that this deposit contained at least two novelty shaped clay 'balls' (x8, x17)-very similar to those turning up in the kopal trench at the moment, giving their finds a good date and ours an interesting context. Dry Sieve Information: Unknown if any dry seive
