Dimensions: 3-10cm N-S; ~1.60 E-W; 5-8 mm thick 

Discussion: Clear surface below occupation deposits 5232. The only surface evident in the S half of the room (possibly others may be found beneath 5239) and presumably contemporary (though not continuous) with 5245 to N. The pale greyish-brown colour is the same as the wall plaster and indeed in places 5234 is continuous with the plaster facing on both E + W walls so this surface is contemporary with (same as) plaster 5208. Dry Sieve Information: Unknown if any dry seive 

Recognition: greyish plastery surface underlying 'dirty' occupation deposits 5231 

Definition: clear boundaries in part up to E + W walls but running out to N + SW 

Execution: trowel, 50 cm squares on same grid as 5231 

Condition: dry 

Consistency: friable 

Colour: pale brown 

Texture: sandy clay/silt 

Bedding: massive 

Inclusions: occasional charcoal flecks; occasional white flecks (of marl?)
