Discussion: Very distinctive burnt fill of cut [5293], no signs of in-situ scorching so it was presumably just dumped in to fill the hole. Must be the residue of some intense burning event elsewhere, has some similarities to 'lime' burning events and to (5287).

Unit description: Flot Sample 2 (3592) - fully analyzed. No dry sieve The unit is the fill of a scoop cut from 5291. it is a tiny unit with moderate density. The colour ranges from light brown to black with the larger pieces generally lighter. The material appears to have mixed derivation with rather rolled and trampled smaller pieces although there are a few larger pieces or 3 - 5 cm. There is a small amount of burning among the smaller pieces. Taxa include sheep and one cattle bone. Most of the fragments are 03 size. Sample 3 - Flot No. 3600 - >4mm - 100%: A medium to small sample containing only 1 ID. The flot frags include several carbonized and several calcined frags. Also, there are significant quantities of both gnawed and digested bone. Last Number = 22Figurine Records: Yes
