Discussion: 5356 was a white make-up layer for floors (5020). It was a substantial deposit consisting of dark greyish brown 'brick-like' lumps that were laid across the area, over which a thick layer of plaster had been poured. It represents a concerted effort to provide a solid foundation for the overlying floor deposits (5382( and probably also acted as a working surface at the same time as the floor deposits 5344 were being used.
