Unit 5403
Category: Layer dug in 2002
Area: South
Interpretive Categories: building fill
Data Category Information: Location: building; Deposition: homogeneous
Discussion: Homogenous bricky make up/fill up to which plaster deposits 5396-8 ran. I had left it upstanding because a line of plaster appeared to make an edge. When it became clear the lower plaster 5404 ran under this edge it was removed. It appears to have been a plastered brick fragment on edge within the deposit rather than a proper platform edgethough 5403 is quite distinct from the sequence 5396-5398 to the east.
Recognition: continuation of 5394 but less plaster inclusions
Definition: as above
Execution: trowel
Condition: dry
Consistency: firm
Colour: grey
Texture: silty clay
Bedding: massive
Inclusions: freq: white plaster frag, occa: charcoal
Post-depositional Features: roots and animal burrows
