Discussion: Fairly shallow scoop was filled with a loose and slightly less dry and dark deposit. When the fill was emptied, shallow scoop of drier, reddish clayey "lining" was revealled and subsequently linked as next unit (6270)
This dark fill probably represented either burnt residue directly beneath fire installation. 

 

Recognition: colour and texture 

Definition: clear colour boundaries , markedly softer 

Execution: trowelled side inwards 

Condition: slightly more moist thin surroundings 

Consistency: soft 

Colour: 10 YR 3/3 dark brown 

Texture: silty clay 

Bedding: massive 

Inclusions: flecks of ash (10%) and small inclusions of charcoal 10 - 15 %. 

Post-depositional Features: none 

Basal Boundary: sharp smooth anthropic
