Unit 7088
Category: layer dug in 2001
Area: TP
Interpretive Categories: burial marker
Data Category Information: In Situ: in situ; Location: feature; Material: brick
Discussion: A burial marker that is very difficult to define. It consists of two bricks one them located diagonally with the other lying horizontally (later has probably fallen down from the wall construction). Remaining part consists of a rectangular layer of very compact silt (possibly a destroyed floor). Exact size and shape of this construction is difficult to define. After lifting these bricks, oval pit has been discovered (unit 7093, - infill). Only one human bone was found inside (unit 7094). This pit should rather be regarded as a cellar by the house. The burial might have been destroyed later, but it appears that at least two eastern bricks of the construction were burial markers. It is almost certain that its remaining part had a different function.
