Discussion: very compact (shiny when trowelled) area below room fill. Appears to be trampled and probably rammed earlier room fill ( see 9021) area close to walls far less compact so much so that definition between 7738 and 9021 -room fills- was only suggested by the prescence of dumped plaster fragments ýn the lower 9021.

The surface continues approximately 0.20m to the west, past arbitary edge. Here it is truncated by large limestone lined grave F746. Contamination from this feature is possible 

Recognition: room fill peeled off this harder surface easily, white salt at interface 

Definition: truncated by burrows, sits on paler layer which showed where truncated 

Execution: T M S, at edge, in plan 

Condition: dry, bright 

Consistency: v firm, surface shiny when trowelled 

Colour: 10YR3/2 v dark greyish brown 

Texture: silty clay 

Bedding: massive 

Inclusions: pot, bone, obsidan, stone 

Post-depositional Features: animal/ insect activity 

Basal Boundary: anthropogenic, diffuse irregular faint contrast
