Discussion: This is a midden layer sloping down to the North and placed between deposits on top of Neolithic roof and double mudbrick wall against southern edge of the trench. This is the same layer as unit 8922. It contains a large number of animal bones, what makes it very distinctive (see also units 7899 and 8982 - cluster of animal bones). 

 

Recognition: colour, consistency 

Definition: midden layer sloping down to the North 

Execution: trowel 

Condition: dry, hot 

Consistency: friable 

Colour: mid to dark brown 

Texture: loamy sand 

Bedding: layered (layers sloping to the North) 

Inclusions: pottery, animal bones, obsidian, daub, shell 

Post-depositional Features: burrowing animals 

Basal Boundary: arbitrary
