This unit is the mudbricks of the wall of an oven. There are three mudbricks remaining, standing vertically and with mortar in between them. There does not appear to be mortar below the bricks. Top of bricks has been truncated either by previous excavation or erosion. One brick collapsed previously and therefore it is not recorded here. 

 

Recognition: Square shape 

Definition: Clear seperation by colour and texture from surrounding material. 

Execution: Trowelled in plan 

Condition: Dry ! 

Consistency: Friable 

Colour: Orangey brown 

Texture: Loam 

Bedding: Massive

Basal Boundary: Sharp, clear boundaries
