Unit 8160
Category: layer dug in 2001
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: fill of the hearth
Data Category Information: none
Dimensions: outer R=55cm; inner R=49cm
Discussion: removing the infill layer from a fire installation F. 604, 752 in a platform extension F. 169. This layer is very similar to the ones in units 8146, 8183. Although more sandy underneath. This coarse yellowish deposit, surface with black baked clay was revealed, partially destroyed by animal holes in upper layers. The rim of this cut for the fire installation(hearth) is circular, through the eastern half of it is not preserved (probably cut when the hearths next to platform F.169 were being made). Obviously, this hearth was mad before the 2-3 hearths of the upper layer in the platform extension. It is inserted in the base of the hearth zone and is shallow -7cm deep.
