Unit 8194
Category: layer dug in 2001
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: base of clayball feature
Data Category Information: none
Discussion: This is the base of F.758. We reconized that it was a continuation of the feature when I was excavating unit 8179. (floors). Took off two layers of packing and plaster. When I began the impressions of the clayballs remained in the top white plaster. I took off that incredibly thin layer along with the associated packing and reached the white plaster basal boundary. It is now contemporaneous with the basal of 8179.The entire exposed white floor will be photographed focusing on the relationship between F.758 and the oven (F.646). The southern edge of the feature is unclear as it is where the screen wall was. The base also shows some black/purplish burning probably related to its proximity to the area.
