This layer lies underneath a layer of white plaster and brownish/ orange packing underneath it (unit #8190). Consists of black and red burnt clay deposit with phosphates. This layer was removed in eastern half of the central area of building 3 (units 8195 and 8196). The surface revealed after this layer was removed is very unusual. It could be a packing of some kind, through it contains burnt clay of various colors; it is coarse and has inclusions such as phosphates, phytoliths, charcoal, etc.
Anyway, unit 8196 comprises thin black layer which could be a leveling layer, since it's not visible at the edges of this feature F.606
