20020703_JPQ_==== - end of units
This unit represents excavation of a layer of packing on the aster side of the bin (feature 1003). There are fragments of plaster most likely in situ, or traces of an earlier bin in the area next to the North wall of spac 88. Within this packing there is a concentration of animal bones (vertebre and other smaller bones). There are also several ground stones and chips of the bone material surrounding bones. On top of the bonje a possible sxhell neckless is found (shells are stuck to each other in a concentration and are perforated). The shells/snails werea ctually palced over the vertebre (neck) of a sheep/goat (foundation deposit under the platform???). The edge of this deposit is clearly visible and is different from the deposit of the floor (unit 8506) deposit which surrounds it. Severalfresh water shells were found in the deposit as well. Under the shells was found a red colour grooved bead perforated through the middle. The animal bones seem to have been laying on a layer of reeds as indicated by a layer of phytholiths (sample #3). Several bird bones were found in the packing (x 8). After the main bone concentration was lifted phytholiths samples were taken. The whole area was cleaned and to the E of this unit there is a clear boundary of this feature in relation to the surrounding floor. There is a clear edge with packing of a smaller or fragmented brick surrounded with some other packing. On the W side it was impossible to follow the base of the unit as a cut. It seems that it was placed on top of the foor on which the bin was also placed (f. 1003). This boundary was photographed. After removing the bricky material of the packing it seems that it had been placed on top of the floor that was not uncovered as unit 8506. There are also traces of possibly truncated bin (the feature underneath).
