Interpretive Categories: 2nd floor
Data Category Information: none
Discussion: SAMPLES FOR PHYTOLITS , PHOSPATHES, AND icp ANAYLISIS WERE TAKEN WHILE EXCAVATING UNIT 8504 (RIM OF THE OVEN).
After removing 1st floor of the oven 778, a red surface with pieces of scortched clay and sandy soil appeared, resembling a floor. When the rectangular rim was removed , another one reveald , circular in shape and made of white plaster, as is the floor which surrounds the oven.
It seems that completely new oven existed underneath F. 778 (which had rectangular rim and red/brown floor). New oven is round in shape and the so called 2nd floor belongs to it.
Howevfer, below the rim was this laer of burnt material of dark brown colour which was taken away together with the red floor but it was noticed that this layer stretches all the way under the white floor around the oven. Next step will be removal of the floor and packing connected with the first phase of the oven.
