Building 119

Area: North 

Location: Northern side of North shelter 

It located eastern side of B.5, and the western side of B.102. Also it's located the northwestern side of B.3.

It is comprised of side room space 512 and main room space 513, covering an area of 6.20m by 5.60m. The building is defined to the north by wall F.7721, to the west by wall F.8105, to the south by wall F.8104, and to the east by wall F.7616. Spaces 512 and 513 are divided by two partition walls, one to the north, F.7145, and one to the south F. 7144. The southern partition wall was extended with the addition of F.7577. An access hole, F.8108 also links spaces 512 and 513 by the southern partition wall.

The building was excavated through 2012 to 2014. The floor sequences of the building are not entirely excavated.

The northern wall, by the northeastern platform contained a unique wall painting in the shape of lozanges. The features of the building represent a quite typical Catalhoyuk building – with raised platforms to the north and east, and the hearth and oven to the south. In B.119 the entry platform and the food preparation features are nicely tucked to the southeast corner.

The building is tentatively placed into the 4040.F sequence. No direct stratigraphic relationships could be made with other buildings. B.102 seems to abut B.119 but this relationship is physical and not stratigraphical and therefore difficult to prove.

B.112 was constructed immediately above B.119.
