Building 98
Area: Trench 5
Location: centre of the trench
The excavated part is probably the lower storey of B.98, having four internal buttresses (F.3326, 5052, 5053/5054, 5057) separating five spaces (450, 452, 449, 340, 341). Dimensions of B.98: 6.3m NS and 6.6m EW. Northeastern limit of B.98 not clear. Possibly two building phases extant; in the earlier phase, F.2428 and F.3324 might have adjoined and formed the northeast corner of the building. They might have been cut here later and F.3335, 3320 and 3321 added to open B.98 towards north. Space 446 might have been part of B.98 in the younger phase. Installations F.3334, 3328 and 3329 definitely are later additions within the building, as they are sitting on the fill in B.98. This fill is made up of disposed artefacts, organic wste and building materials. Areas with Installations or artefacts indicating original use were not yet reached.
