Entry: | Tracy the skeleton is out of the ground, thanks to the efforts of Scott from the osteoarch lab. Would have liked to have been able to watch a bit more closely to learn about drawing skeletons etc but felt I couldn't justify standing around when there was so much to get done.
So spent a pretty enjoyable morning clearing the baby burial (13713, 13714, 13715), which is seriously fragmented. Then worked through the layer under Nick's cist grave (13721), which produced quite a good bit of bone and some interesting other finds before hitting a compact level underneath. Documented the two. It was satisfying just to get these out so we are now free to see what's below them. Also did a bit of clearing around what looks to be another cist grave (13720, 13722), which will return to tomorrow.
Spent the afternoon clearing the eastern part of trench 5 generally. Simply shifting large amounts of soil is still important at this stage and it was satisfying to get back shovelling!
The real issue of the day however is disharmony amongst the team. Communication has become a real problem, and not just in the sense of having three different languages on site. This became evident in today's meeting, where a couple of people expressed unhappiness at the way the team was working. Hopefully this will improve tomorrow.Entered By: NMS |
