| Entry: | At this stage of play we're pretty certain we're not going to reach floor level in 117 and its a concern to everyone that the walls will suffer if we continue to empty the building. We therefore had a brief strategy meeting with Ian on site this morning, the results of which are that we'll stop excavating the fill and instead concentrate on articulating the S wall to the space. This will mean we wont have these periphery walls to deal with next year and it's also a more satisfactory way to end the season. Anwen and Atakhan are taking out wall 63, this wall is a bit of a floater, it may be level VI wall cut into the earlier walls. It appears to sit in an FT cut with a charcoal rich fill, and this appears to cut the S wall of 117 to the W but wall 73 sits over the same fill, this creates a circular relationship as wall 73 appears not to be later because of its plastered N face. I'm sure it'll make perfect sense in the end! To the W, we'll continue exacavting the midden layers, some of which now extend into what was 108 and join up to those we stopped at in 107. Naomi has been excavating a cache of obsidian blades, interesting by all accounts, unfortunately their deposition event is not clear. A lot more of this area will have to be excavated to establish whether the cache sits at the edge of a pit cut This probbly wont happen until next season.Entered By: Shahina Farid |
