working in T5 Extension (Unit Numbers 13723, 13735, 13738), task: cleaning and drawing because wall structures were recognized. Therefore got a little bit deeper but recognizing stayed difficultly. Discussion with Eva and Trina, solution a few centimeter had to go, while cutting the already visible wall structures. Worked mostly alone in this area. Got frustrated. Was a lot of hard work (I got a wound on my left knee from the great football match ;-) ). On 2/8/2006 I discovered a white pattern between mudbricks so work was slowed down. It was a great moment and I was very excited. Immedialy I thought of wall paintings. Specialists were informed and they came to help us with the fragile white lines. Since than a lot of visitors came and work was more slowed down. Priority this day: white pattern. Cleaning and drawing had to wait. Theories about the white pattern: A: wall paintings on a collapsed wall B: calcinite root net C: from plaster washed out chalc, filling out insect tunnels.

The north part of T5 Extension (13723) was leveled by workers with mattocks and trowels and first brushed. They stopped in front of the grave pit approximately in the middle of T5 Extension. I finished drawing of the southern part of T5 Ext (13735, 13738). The patterns were excavated further. Now it doesn't look like man made anymore..root theory is now my favourit, but we will see, because further north are more white traces visible and are waiting for excavation.Entered By: IF |
