Trench 5:

Vildan did a great job exposing the skeleton 13784 in grave 2406 today, using unit 13771 for the grave fill. It has been photographed and is ready for drawing today.

Gulgun ad Nejat managed to work for 2 hours at grave 2409, exposing skeleton 13790 with unit 13767.

Gulay fully exposed (unit 13765) and drew with Burcins help skeleton 13782 in 2407. It has also been removed today.

Seliha drew with Burcins help skeleton 13778 in 2404 and lifted it. She also took out was is left of the disturbance 13781 that is responsible for the lack of iys upper body.

I documented the walls of grave 2403 in elevation sketches on the feature sheet, and then Naoise dug down under the coffin level with unit 13786, exposing mudbick in the E, plaster and ashy soil towars the W - this all looks like the wall 2409 and plaster 13726 and the ashy stuff we got outside the grave, and I am happy to have shown once again that cross-sections are not necessary anymore once you dig really stratigraphically. Taking off the mudbrick will reveal a nice stratigraphy anyway towards the N.

The same applied to trench 6:

The pit fill 13870 Nick took out today indeed produced the ?EC? floor 13842 cut in its N cut slope! So the soil overlying this soil and abutting the mudbrick wall we got under the N profile will hopefully give us a first clean date for the floor, if it is not only late erosion (which is not very probable given the good preservation of the floor) tomorrow.

Skeleton exposal and removal work, such as in 2458, where the head seems to be dislocated by a disturbance, continued today in the various graves.Entered By: ER
